Orezone Gold Corporation is a gold exploration and development company with significant gold resources in Burkina Faso and more than 15 years operating experience in West Africa, one of the world’s fastest growing producing regions. We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Manager of Human Resources for its Bombore deposit in Burkina Faso. Bombore is the largest undeveloped gold deposit in Burkina Faso and one of the largest in West Africa. A drill program is underway and is expected to expand resources by as much as 60% this year. The project is expected to reach a feasibility completion this year with a production decision in Q1 2012. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to be part of a rapidly growing company and become a cornerstone of a successful and dedicated team.

Reporting to the Country / Project Manager the successful candidate will have the responsibility to provide overall HR leadership for our multi-site operations in Burkina Faso. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and lead initiatives for recruiting, employee motivation, positive work environment and retention.
  • Build and maintain operational metrics for headcount, attrition, labour costs, overtime analysis, and other projects, as required.
  • Manage and coordinate annual evaluation and wage increase process.
  • Develop and implement a training strategy for both domestic and international staff.
  • Oversee, interpret, and administer company policies, workplace procedures and government regulations.
  • Ensure proper health and safety programs are adhere to and adequate training is provided.

As the successful candidate you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous HR superintendent experience in Africa with respect to large scale mining operations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills in both French and English.
  • Exceptional coaching, mentoring and consulting skills to foster and facilitate an environment focused on teamwork and the training of a national work force.
  • A Social Science or Business Administration Degree specializing in human resources with over 10 years of related experience.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • A willingness to travel.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel & PowerPoint.

The project is located only 85 km East of the capital city. A reasonable rotation in and out of the country is expected until a more firm mine site rotation is established at construction. The company has a significant office in the capital as well as on the project. Work will be divided between site and the capital.
